Why Join Mala?

Facility Membership Benefits

MALA provides comprehensive legislative and regulatory representation before the Missouri Legislature and the state agencies that regulate the AL/RC industry. Governmental Consultant Jorgen Schlemeier, Gamble & Schlemeier, has strongly and effectively represented MALA and its members for over a number of years.

MALA is routinely involved with a variety of state regulatory agencies on your behalf, including the Department of Health & Senior Services and the Department of Mental Health. MALA is very involved with the Departments when regulation revisions are considered.

MALA members receive legislative and industry updates on a regular basis through special email bulletins and electronic newsletter. The cost of these updates is included in your membership.

MALA also hosts regional Town Hall Meetings. Providers are invited to learn the latest legislative and regulatory information, program changes and interact with other providers. There is no fee for MALA members to participate.

MALA is committed to providing high quality educational and professional development to our members. MALA provides its members with varied opportunities to be educated on important topics by some of the foremost experts in the industry. The educational needs of our members largely determine the training agendas for seminars and conferences.

  • Spring and Fall Conference: MALA hosts two conferences each year. In addition to quality educational sessions and speakers, our exhibit hall introduces attendees to the latest products and services available to the industry. Members receive a reduced registration rate.
  • Continuing educational seminars/workshops: MALA offers varied and ever-changing topics that benefit industry professionals.
  • Level One Medication Aide and Insulin Administration Certification: MALA is an approved training and certifying agency for these certifications. As a member, you receive discounted rates on certification processing.
  • Train-the-Trainer: MALA conducts bimonthly workshops to certify a nurse as an instructor of L1MA and Insulin courses.
  • ALF Resident Assessment Training: MALA offers this 24 hour training as required by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. As a member, you receive a discounted rate.

MALA committees and task forces serve as forums for interested members to fulfill and enhance the mission of the association. Your participation is welcomed on committees such as Education, Finance, Legislative, and Membership. The only requirement to serve on a committee is an active MALA membership status. Service on a committee is a great way to become involved in the promotion of MALA and the AL/RC industry. If you are interested, please contact the MALA office for further information.

MALA members are listed on our website www.moassistedliving.org at no charge, along with a link to your facility’s webpage. As a member, you have access to the “Member’s Only” section of our website which contains the latest legislative information, resource library, member facility listing, Associate members’ service/product directory, and other exclusive member offers and opportunities. You also receive special pricing and offers on all website advertising opportunities.

Our electronic newsletter features timely articles, industry and legislative updates, and information on industry products and services. This newsletter also has a section which announces new Associate Members and details their products or services, as well as any special announcements.
